TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairperson of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), Ahmad Muzani, said he has received confirmation that Anies Baswedan will attend the inauguration of the elected president and vice president, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming. Muzani said his phone call was directly answered by the former presidential candidate of 2024.
"I have contacted Mas Anies and connected with him. Mas Anies, by the will of Allah, stated that he will attend," Muzani said when met at the DPR building complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
In addition to Anies Baswedan, Muzani also said that he has invited Ganjar Pranowo. However, he said, up to now Ganjar has not confirmed whether he will attend. "I have contacted Mas Ganjar, but have not been able to connect with him," he said.
Previously, Muzani said that the MPR did indeed prepare invitations to former presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 Presidential Election. "We will definitely invite them," he said.
Furthermore, Muzani said that the preparations for the inauguration of the president and vice president are complete. He said that the MPR has also sent invitations to leaders of friendly countries.
The Secretary General of the Gerindra Party is optimistic that the inauguration process of Prabowo-Gibran will run smoothly. He said that he has coordinated with the security forces and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"Invitations for VVIP guests are continuously validated and the number will continue to increase, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in this regard has also prepared for the invitations," Muzani said.
Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka will be inaugurated as president and vice president on Sunday, October 20, 2024. Prabowo will succeed President Jokowi and will bear the title of the 8th President of Indonesia.
Previously, Prabowo-Gibran officially declared victory in the Presidential Election after garnering 96,214,691 votes. This pair was declared the winner in a single round because they managed to gather 58.59 percent of valid votes nationally, defeating the candidate pairs Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md.
