TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Jakarta-based MRT infrastructure and facility company, PT MRT Jakarta, implements the Paylater system as a payment option for its users.

The Director of Business Development at MRT Jakarta, Farchad H. Mahfud, explained that the collaboration with the digital credit platform Kredivo is a form of support for digital transformation efforts, especially within the MRT Jakarta ecosystem.

"The collaboration with a digital credit platform like Kredivo is a strategic move considering the tech-savvy MRT users,” he said, as quoted from a written statement on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.

The collaboration so far has shown significant potential as both services have similar user segments, especially among the age group of 20 to 40 years old. According to official information, the implementation of the Paylater payment system for MRT has been carried out for approximately one month.

Based on existing data, the number of MRT Jakarta users continues to grow significantly, with an 18.7 percent year-on-year increase in passengers and more than 158,000 monthly active users on the MyMRTJ application. The number keeps rising, reaching 120,000 people per day as of September 2024.

Furthermore, out of 10 million Kredivo users in Indonesia, 15 to 20 percent are located in Jakarta. Kredivo has noted an increase in users, especially in offline merchants, by 169 percent in 2023, contributing to nearly 30 percent of the total Paylater transactions.

Moreover, by adopting Paylater as a payment method for MRT, it also supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in line with the Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) roadmap.

As stated by the Director of Marketing and Strategy at Kredivo, Lily Suriani, in a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. "This strategic collaboration is also a manifestation of our commitment as financial service sector players in supporting energy-efficient public transportation and fulfilling the SDGs according to the OJK Sustainable Financial Roadmap," said Lily.
