The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite were higher ahead of Thursday's close, aided by a post-earnings rally in Tesla (TSLA) shares.
The technology-heavy Nasdaq was up 0.8% at 18,428.1, while the S&P 500 rose 0.3% to 5,814.6. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.3% to 42,393.4. Among sectors, consumer discretionary led the gainers, while materials saw the biggest drop.
Tesla's shares surged a day after the electric vehicle maker's Q3 earnings unexpectedly increased year over year.
Arthur J. Gallagher (AJG), Capital One Financial (COF), L3Harris Technologies (LHX), DexCom (DXCM), and Deckers Outdoor (DECK) are among the companies scheduled to report results after Thursday's closing bell.
The US 10-year yield decreased 3.4 basis points to 4.21%, while the two-year rate lost 1.2 basis points to 4.07%.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil dropped 0.4% to $70.48 a barrel.
