TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) officially arrested the suspect of tin corruption case involving PT Timah's trading affairs, Hendry Lie. He was arrested upon arriving at Terminal 2F of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta) on Monday, November 18, 2024, around 10:30 PM Western Indonesia Time. Hendry had just landed after a flight from Singapore using Batik Air.

"The arrest of the suspect Hendry Lie took place at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, at the time of his arrival from Singapore," said Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Dirdik Jampidsus), Abdul Qohar, in front of reporters on Monday, November 18, 2024.

Hendry arrived at the Attorney General's Office, precisely at Kartika Building around 11:10 PM Western Indonesia Time. He underwent examination as a suspect for about an hour and finished around 12:15 AM.

Hendry then returned to the detention vehicle to be taken to Salemba Detention Center. He will be detained by AGO for the next 20 days.

"Detained for the next 20 days at Salemba Detention Center, South Jakarta State Prosecution Office Branch," said Qohar.

According to Qohar, Hendry's return to Indonesia was to renew his expired passport. Qohar stated that Hendry's return to Indonesia was done quietly to avoid officials or Law Enforcement Officers (LEO).

"We could tell because investigators always monitor, then there is a representative of the prosecution attach in Singapore, and also there is a SIRI team from Indonesia who always follows and monitors (Hendry Lie's movements)," he said.

Qohar mentioned that Hendry went to Singapore on March 25, 2024, about a month after he was first examined as a witness on February 29, 2024. According to Qohar, the owner of PT Tinindo Internusa went to Singapore to seek treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital. He had missed several scheduled examinations by investigators.

"After being examined as a witness, based on information from Singapore Immigration Authorities, the suspect Hendry Lie was known to be in Singapore since March 25, 2024," said Qohar.

Hendry Lie is one of the 22 suspects in the tin corruption case. The Attorney General's Office accuses Hendry of receiving a fund of IDR 1 trillion from an illegal cooperation between PT Tinindo Internusa and PT Timah Tbk. Besides Hendry, the AGO also detained several other suspects in this case like Harvey Moeis, Suparta, and executives of PT Timah.
