Over 1000 nurses and midwives at Ramsay Health Care (ASX:RHC) hospitals in New South Wales will take industrial action for 24 hours on Tuesday amid calls for a 20% pay increase over three years and "safe staffing levels," the Australian Financial Review reported Sunday.
Nurses plan to protest at Ramsay Health Care's annual meeting on the same day, with the action set to disrupt 17 hospitals owned by the company, the report said.
The company and the union had been negotiating for 20 months but failed to reach an agreement, NSW Nurses and Midwives Association secretary Shaye Candish said in the report.
Ramsay Health Care did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
Ramsay Health Care shares fell 1% in afternoon trade Monday.
