WPP Might Benefit From Ipsos's Potential Kantar Media Takeover -- Market Talk

0915 GMT - WPP--which owns 40% of Kantar--might benefit from the potential sale of Kantar Media to Ipsos, Citi analysts write in a note. From the advertising and marketing-services group's perspective, Kantar doesn't contribute to its earnings as it is effectively held as an investment rather than an associate, the analysts say. However, if the deal proceeds, it might lead to some cash return for WPP which could be used to reduce debt, Citi says. This would likely improve the company's financial profile, the analysts say. Additionally, there will be questions over what percentage of the proceeds would be returned to shareholders, they say. WPP shares are up 0.6% at 872.40 pence. (najat.kantouar@wsj.com)
