PSQ Holdings named Donald Trump Jr. and Willie Langston to its board, effective Tuesday.
Trump Jr. has been an investor in the West Palm Beach, Fla., company, which owns online marketplace PublicSquare, since before its initial public offering, Chief Executive Michael Seifert said Tuesday. Langston invested in the company during its most recent private investment in public equity offering in October.
Shares surged 89%, to $3.89, following the announcement. The stock, which is down 26% since the beginning of the year, has been in the green since Bloomberg earlier in the day reported, citing people with knowledge of the matter, that Trump Jr. would join the company's board.
"As shareholders and accomplished business leaders, both are committed to building shareholder value by delivering on the promise of our unique platform," Seifert said.
PublicSquare aims to connect what it calls patriotic businesses and consumers and seeks to build a parallel economy, which it defines as prioritizing faith and family.
