Metcash (ASX:MTS) reported earnings of AU$0.129 per share for the first half of fiscal 2025, down from AU$0.145 per share in the year-earlier period, according to a Monday filing with the Australian bourse.
Analysts polled by Visible Alpha expected EPS of AU$0.119.
The net profit attributable to the parent's equity holders was AU$141.8 million, compared with AU$141 million a year earlier. Metcash noted that its hardware and liquor businesses saw lower earnings amid cost pressures and reduced strategic buying, offsetting growth in the food pillar.
Group reported revenue, which excludes charge-through sales, rose 8% to AU$8.47 billion for the half year ended Oct. 31 from AU$7.84 billion a year earlier. Analysts surveyed by Visible Alpha expected AU$8.55 billion.
The wholesale distribution and marketing company declared a dividend of AU$0.085 per share with a record date of Dec. 16, payable on Jan. 29, 2025. This is lower than the payout of AU$0.11 per share in the year-ago period.
