Amazon.com's (AMZN) cloud computing unit AWS said Monday that it will implement new data center components in power, cooling, and hardware design across AWS's new data centers globally.
The unit said the new components will provide 12% more compute power and improve "availability and efficiency."
AWS said its new "simplified electrical distribution and mechanical systems, which enable infrastructure availability of 99.9999%" and "reduce the potential number of racks that can be impacted by electrical issues by 89%."
Other additions include liquid cooling and data and generative AI-powered software to maximize power usage by optimizing how data center racks are positioned, AWS said.
AWS said new capabilities are expected to reduce mechanical energy consumption by 46% and embodied carbon in the concrete used by 35%.
