Alerus Financial said it named Karin Taylor as its new operating chief, effective Jan. 1.

The bank on Tuesday said Taylor's appointment is part of a succession plan in connection with the exit of Jon Hendry, who will retire as technology chief at the end of the year and transition his responsibilities to Taylor.

The bank also said it named Joe Birkholz chief risk officer to succeed Taylor, who has held the role since 2018. Birkholz has nearly 20 years of industry experience and most recently served as chief risk officer at Bridgewater Bank, Alerus said.
