TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Special Region Provincial Government plans to hold a festival called Semarak Jakarta Mendunia (Jakarta Goes Global) at the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2024. This agenda will be enlivened by celebrities, video mapping, and drone shows that can be watched directly by the people of Jakarta.
Acting Governor of Jakarta Teguh Setyabudi said that Semarak Jakarta Mendunia will also be accompanied by the introduction of government programs. "On New Year's Eve, we will also launch the Grand Launching of Lima Abad Jakarta program which is part of the commemoration of Jakarta's 500th anniversary," he said in a written statement, Monday, December 23, 2024.
The Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared 1,500 Civil Service Police Unit or Satpol PP personnel to guard various crowded areas in Jakarta. In addition, 2,700 Jakarta Transportation Agency personnel are involved in the Christmas and New Year security operations. The provincial government has also prepared medical personnel and ambulances at several points.
Teguh said that the preparation of security personnel is part of anticipating the surge in tourists during the 2024 New Year and Christmas celebrations. The Jakarta Provincial Government is coordinating with the Jakarta Regional Leadership Coordination Forum or Forkopimda to make the two agendas a success.
As for other preparations, said Teguh, the Jakarta Provincial Government is also holding Operation Lalu Lintas Jaya 2024 for 13 days. This operation is to support the Christmas and New Year celebrations starting from Saturday, December 21, 2024 to Thursday, December 2, 2025.
Based on a survey by the Ministry of Transportation, the potential for public movement during Christmas and New Year is estimated to reach 110.67 million people. This figure increased by 2.83 percent or 3.04 million people compared to the previous year. Therefore, the Jakarta government is preparing traffic operations and security at a number of points to support the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
