Northwest Natural Gas filed a request with Oregon regulators to raise customer rates by 5.79%, equivalent to about $59.4 million annually.
The Portland, Ore., unit of Northwest Natural Holding on Monday said the utility's proposed rate increase reflects the effects of inflation and higher interest rates, ongoing depreciation, and several long-planned investments, including in modernizing facilities, metering equipment and technology.
The filing will be reviewed by the Oregon Public Utility Commission and other stakeholders, the company said. The process is anticipated to take up to 10 months with new rates expected to start Nov. 1, 2025.
