China's revenue from movie ticket sales was 42.5 billion yuan in 2024, Xinhua News Agency reported Wednesday, citing the China Film Administration.
Domestic titles contributed 33.4 billion yuan in total box office revenue, or about 79% of the total, while 79 movies topped more than 100 million yuan in gross sales, the report said.
The number of cinema screens increased by more than 4,600 in 2024 to a total of 90,968, the report said.
