A unit of Jinko Solar (SHA:688223) filed a patent infringement case against rival LONGi Green Energy Technology (SHA:601012), Yicai Global reported Tuesday, citing an insider.
Jinko is seeking compensation for economic losses regarding the use of TOPCon or tunnel oxide passivated contact technology for solar cell production, the report said.
The hearing at a court in Nanchang, Jiangxi, China, is set for Feb. 13, according to Yicai.
A LONGi representative said it has not yet received the case documents but will respond to the allegations and file counterclaims when needed on the use of the technology, according to Yicai.
TOPCon helps with efficiency in solar energy conversion to electricity. Jinko Solar holds the most number of patents for the technology, Yicai reported, citing Chairman Li Xiande.
LONGi shares slid 2% during Wednesday's late morning trading.
