AtkinsRealis and Stantec have secured a $43 million water-management contract from the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority.

The five-year deal will see a joint venture between the two Canadian companies offer professional services to DC Water as it looks to strengthen supply resilience in the nation's capital.

The companies will support the utility to achieve optimal renewal and replacement rates for its aging infrastructure, bolster resource use and adopt new ideas for delivery, capital improvement plans, data analytics and other business processes.

DC Water provides service to millions of people across the DC region, operating more than 1,300 miles of pipes, 43,860 valves and 9,510 public hydrants.
