Mild Flu Season Hurts Helen of Troy's Top-Line -- Market Talk

1244 ET - This year's cough, cold and flu season isn't living up to Helen of Troy's expectations. "The global illness season will be well below historical averages," CFO Brian Grass says on a call with analysts. The company--with a portfolio that includes healthcare and home-comfort products such as Honeywell humidifiers and Vicks thermometers, as well as houseware brands Hydro Flask and OXO--lowered its outlook, in part due to a $15-million to $20-million headwind it expects in 4Q from the weak winter and illness season globally. "While there is the possibility that illness incidents could increase, we do not expect retailers to place meaningful, incremental replenishment orders as we are now roughly midway through the season," Grass says. Shares fall 4.8%. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
