Delta Sees Strong Off-Peak Demand for European Travel -- Market Talk

1241 ET - Europe in February, why not? Winter is typically a slow time for transatlantic travel, but Delta President Glen Hauenstein says this year has been different. American tourists see their money go farther in Europe right now: "Europe is an incredibly screaming buy as a tourist destination," he says. And with smaller crowds and decent weather--particularly in southern Europe, travelers are finding winter trips have their appeal. Hauenstein says he doesn't believe the new appetite for winter travel will hamper the more popular summer season. "We're seeing robust demand in the off-peak, and I'm sure that the peak is going to be even better," he says. (alison.sider@wsj.com; @alyrose)
