UK Stocks-Factors to watch on Jan. 15

Jan 15 (Reuters) - Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE index is seen opening higher on Wednesday, with futures FFIc1 up 0.25%.

* SABA CAPITAL: U.S. activist investor Boaz Weinstein called on British critics opposing plans to unseat managers at seven underperforming UK investment trusts to stop misleading investors who have lost "enormous value", describing their criticism as "jingoistic".

* HALEON: Pfizer PFE.N is looking to sell about 700 million ordinary shares in Haleon HLN.L, its bookrunner J.P. Morgan said on Tuesday, lowering its stake in the British consumer healthcare company to about 7.3% from 15%.

* SAVANNAH RESOURCES: Savannah Resources SAVS.L is seeking Portuguese government approval for the compulsory purchase of land around its Barroso lithium mining project, in a test of Europe's commitment to boost its minerals industry despite local opposition.

* OIL: Oil prices were little changed on Wednesday, after falling the previous day, as a dip in U.S. crude stockpiles and expectations of supply disruptions from sanctions on Russian tankers lent support amid forecasts for lower global fuel demand.

* GOLD: Gold prices edged lower as caution prevailed ahead of the U.S. consumer price inflation report that could provide more clarity on the Federal Reserve's interest rate trajectory.

* METALS: Most base metals declined, with copper pulling back from a one-month high, weighed down by a strong U.S. dollar.

* British stocks ended mixed on Tuesday, as profit warnings from BP and JD Sports weighed on the blue-chip FTSE 100, while midcap stocks steadied after a recent slump as investors awaited key inflation figures.
