Volkswagen Flags Upcoming Costs After a Solid Quarter -- Market Talk

1238 GMT - Volkswagen had a solid fourth quarter, but restructuring and EU carbon dioxide regulation may hit earnings in 2025, Citi analysts Harald C Hendrikse and Soumava Banerjee write. The company held a pre-close call and reiterated full-year guidance for 5.6% operating margin, 2 billion euros of free cash flow and 36 billion-37 billion euros of net industrial liquidity. VW highlighted that it should hit its guidance, which ahead of current consensus on EBIT, and roughly in line with 22 euros in EPS, Citi says. For full-year 2025, VW expects little change in volumes and price-mix, but does see some restructuring charges and around 1.5 billion euros in estimated EU carbon dioxide penalties. Shares trade 1.8% higher at 98.10 euros. (dominic.chopping@wsj.com)
