Anti-DEI Proposal Rejected by 98% of Costco Investors -- WSJ

By Sarah Nassauer

DEI has its defenders at Costco.

Shareholders rejected--by a vote tally of around 98% to 2%--a proposal by a conservative activist group pushing the company to revisit its DEI policies.

While many other companies have retreated from their DEI programs, Costco's board has made a vigorous case for how its DEI measures contribute to its bottom line.

Groups have filed similar proposals against companies including Apple, Walmart and Starbucks and all have been handily defeated, rarely getting more than 2% of shareholder support.
