Trump's Energy Policies Won't Halt Shift Away From Fossil Fuels, Citi Says -- Market Talk

1720 GMT - U.S. President Trump's executive orders on climate won't hold back the global transition toward cleaner forms of energy, according to Citi analysts. Last week, Trump signed a barrage of orders to boost oil-and-gas output and dismantle his predecessor's agenda on climate and clean energy. However, "for advocates of [the] clean energy transition, the power of economics will prevail and makes a compelling case for an orderly and just transition away from fossil fuels," the analysts say in a note to clients. "Clean energy is cheaper, more widely available, and more efficient, making it positive for the environment and economy." (giulia.petroni@wsj.com)
