Diplomats are pushing for access to Australian Oscar Jenkins to check his welfare after Russian officials revealed he was alive in captivity, despite earlier reports he had been killed after being taken prisoner.
As Foreign Minister Penny Wong confirmed Mr Jenkins had survived, Ukraine’s ambassador to Australia Vasyl Myroshnychenko warned the Melbourne man could languish in a Russian Prisoner of War camp and may be subjected to a show trial before being freed.
