Whitebark Energy (ASX:WBE) said King Energy has found multiple potential hydrogen and hydrocarbon emission hotspots in Officer Basin, South Australia, the company said in a Friday filing with the Australian bourse.

Whitebark Energy Limited submitted a Bidder's Statement on Feb. 4 to acquire all of the ordinary shares and options in King Energy.

Identified emission hotspots will be tested in-field utilising autonomous gas detection sensors planned for deployment in May, the filing added.

The results of the gas detection survey will be integrated with subsurface data to high-grade prospects for 2D seismic in-fill acquisition, planned to commence in the fiscal second half, followed by subsequent exploration drilling, per the filing.
