First Bancorp Promotes Adam Currie to CEO of First Bank

First Bancorp promoted Adam Currie to chief executive of the First Bank, effective Wednesday, succeeding Michael Mayer.

Currie has served as president of First Bank since November 2023. Before that, he was its chief banking officer and also served as a regional president.

Mayer will remain with the company, serving as president of First Bancorp, the Southern Pines, N.C. holding company whose principal activity is owning and operating First Bank, until early 2026.

First Bank operates 113 bank branches in North Carolina and South Carolina.
