美国总统唐纳德·特朗普提名的商务部长霍华德·卢特尼克表示，美国可能使用“贸易工具”来报复影响美国公司的欧洲环境、社会和治理（ESG）法规。

　　卢特尼克指的是企业可持续发展尽职调查指令（CSDDD）。他上个月向共和党参议员表示，他担心布鲁塞尔制定的ESG法规对美国企业的影响程度。

　　根据CSDDD规定，如果发现价值链中存在ESG违规行为，公司将面临诉讼风险。CSDDD跟多数欧盟ESG法规一样，设计目的均在于，若欧盟以外的大公司针对欧洲客户，就必须遵守这些法规。

　　根据美国参议院商务、科学和交通委员会网站发布的文件，卢特尼克表示，CSDDD“给美国公司带来了沉重的负担”。上述评论为卢特尼克1月29日参议院提名确认听证会同日发表。
