1224 ET - Republic Services' pricing is coming down as its cost inflation drops, CEO Jon Vander Ark says on a call with analysts. The waste management company's retention rate remains very healthy as it gives customers a price point that fosters loyalty, Vander Ark says. But one area the company isn't pleased with is the municipal space. "That's one on the restricted side, and that's just an area of the business in general where customers on balance are not paying their fair share," he says. "We put an enormous amount of innovation, capital and labor into that equation, and we have many attractive customers and contracts, but not all of them meet our standard," the executive says. "You'll continue to see us optimize that portfolio over the next few years." Shares rise 2.7% to $230.61. (sabela.ojea@wsj.com; @sabelaojeaguix)
