0834 ET - U.S. Cellular is still seeing a drop in subscribers but logged a meaningful improvement in prepaid and postpaid customer churn during 4Q as it works to close an acquisition by its larger telecom rival T-Mobile. The Chicago company, which caters to mostly rural customers, closed 2024 with almost 3.99 million postpaid connections, in which service is paid for each month on a contract. That's down from 4.11 million at the end of 2023. But the postpaid churn rate was just 1.29%, compared with 1.44% a year ago, and prepaid churn was 3.7%, stacked against 3.87% in the year-ago quarter. Shares rise 3% premarket. (dean.seal@wsj.com)
