A waterfront Lake Tahoe home with its own small golf course could set a Nevada record.
The roughly 5.5-acre Glenbrook property is asking $65 million, making it the most expensive home for sale on the lake. If it fetches its asking price, it would top the current state record, which was set by a $62 million Lake Tahoe sale in Incline Village last year, according to Zillow.
The seller is Rachelle Prim, a retired physician and widow of Wayne Prim, who was a lawyer, venture capitalist, developer and avid golfer.
The Prims, who were married in 2019, used the Tahoe home as their primary residence, according to Rachelle. Wayne died in 2024 at the age of 97.
When Wayne bought the property in the late 1980s, it had a one-bedroom, circa-1940s home on it, she said. He renovated the roughly 900-square-foot house and converted it into a guesthouse, then built the current four-bedroom main house, completing both projects in 1989. The roughly 8,200-square-foot, single-story main house is designed so that nearly every room has a lake view, Rachelle said. The fireplaces are made of uncut stone and the main living room has a 20-foot-tall ceiling.
The property has private coves with calmer waters for swimming, as well as a hot tub overlooking the lake. A shared pier is accessible from a neighboring property.
The golf course on the estate has three putting greens and six tee boxes, including one where players hit golf balls over the swimming pool. Wayne loved tennis, Rachelle said, and the estate has a professional-size tennis court that can also be used for pickleball. There is also a volleyball court, according to listing agent Jean Merkelbach with Engel & Völkers.
Wayne co-founded the San Francisco law firm Howard and Prim in the 1950s. He was also active in venture capital and real-estate development, Rachelle said.
Wayne was a major donor to Sierra Nevada College -- now the Wayne L. Prim Campus at the University of Nevada, Reno at Lake Tahoe -- as well as the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno. He frequently hosted charity events and tennis tournaments at the Glenbrook home, according to Rachelle.
Lake Tahoe is home to Nevada's priciest real estate, according to Merkelbach, and Glenbrook is popular for its proximity to ski resorts, golf courses and dining.
