Danone Results Beat Expectations Thanks to Sales Volumes -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
26 Feb

1316 GMT - Danone's results were modestly ahead of consensus expectations driven by fourth-quarter sales volumes that came in better than anticipated, RBC Capital Markets' James Edwardes Jones and Wassachon Fon Udomsilpa say in a note. The French food company reported like-for-like sales growth of 4.7% in the fourth quarter, driven by a 4.2% increase in volumes and sales mix. Like-for-like sales at Danone came in better than forecast across all segments, RBC says. By region, Danone's growth in Europe and North America was higher than anticipated, but slightly weaker than expected elsewhere, RBC says. Shares rise 1.3%. (adria.calatayud@wsj.com)
