美国中央情报局（CIA）局长拉特克利夫当天稍早前在接受媒体采访时表示，美国总统特朗普对乌克兰总统泽连斯基是否致力于俄乌和平进程提出了质疑，决定暂停对乌情报支持和武器供应。莱维特并未明确说明暂停与乌克兰情报共享是暂时的还是永久的。莱维特表示，美国总统特朗普致力于和平协议，他希望看到这场冲突结束。

莱维特还表示，2月28日的事件揭示了美国本届政府在与乌克兰进行闭门谈判时所遭受的挫折，然而乌克兰总统泽连斯基3月4日发表了一份声明，美国认为这是一个“积极的进步”。
