特朗普的顾问埃隆·马斯克（Elon Musk）周三表示，美国政府应该“尽可能地”私有化，并将美国国家铁路客运公司（Amtrak，简称美铁）和美国邮政（USPS）列为私有化时机成熟的两项服务。
在摩根士丹利科技会议的在线讲话中，马斯克向与会者讲述了他在国外乘坐高铁的经历，并说：“我们回到美国，觉得美国铁路的情况很糟糕。”
“如果你来自其他国家，请不要使用我们的国家铁路。它会给你留下对美国非常不好的印象，”马斯克补充道，“所以，我只是认为，我们应该优先考虑任何可以私有化的东西。”
马斯克说，私有化将确保“一个改进的反馈循环”。
他补充说：“基本上，有些东西必须有破产的机会，否则没有一个良好的反馈循环来改进。”
“我们应该尽可能地私有化一切，这是我的建议，”马斯克后来说。
去年12月，在他宣誓就职第二任期之前，美国总统特朗普就提出了将美国邮政私有化的想法，他在新闻发布会上告诉记者，私有化“不是我听过的最糟糕的想法”，“我们正在考虑”。
特朗普上个月还告诉记者，商务部长霍华德·卢特尼克将“研究”将美国邮政并入商务部。
