China Tariff Fears Spark Imports Surge -- Market Talk

1113 ET - U.S. retailers are rushing in goods to get ahead of escalating tariffs on China. The National Retail Federation's Global Port Tracker forecasts that importers brought in the equivalent of 2.07 million loaded containers in February, the strongest import volumes in three years. The U.S. has imposed two rounds of tariffs on China in recent weeks, raising duties to 20%. Jonathan Gold, the NRF's vice president for supply chain, says importers are also concerned about possible reciprocal tariffs that could be imposed in the coming months on other countries.
