South Korea and the EU held their 12th free trade agreement (FTA) Trade Committee meeting in Brussels, co-chaired by Trade Minister Inkyo Cheong and EU Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said Tuesday.
Key topics included sanitary and phytosanitary measures, electric vehicle subsidies, market access, and sustainable development, the release said.
South Korea urged the EU to expedite import approval for Korean beef and review France's electric vehicle subsidy policy. It also addressed concerns over battery regulations, steel safeguards, and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism.
Both countries will establish a committee on emerging trade and economic issues. The meeting also concluded the Korea-EU digital trade agreement, pending legal review and domestic procedures.
