Erin Harkless Moore, 42, is seeking to supercharge the impact of philanthropist Melinda French Gates' $1 billion commitment to expand women's power and influence by 2030. Moore serves as managing director of investments for Pivotal Ventures, Gates' investment, advocacy, and philanthropy firm.
Moore, who joined Pivotal in 2020, previously worked at Cambridge Associates, Goldman Sachs, and other investment firms. She is leading Pivotal's efforts to make early-stage investments in start-ups and female-led venture-capital firms that are finding innovative solutions, especially for gaps in caregiving and women's healthcare.
Early investments include Ulu Ventures, which has funded unicorns including artificial-intelligence-powered BetterUp, a mental health and coaching platform; Mon Ami, a software company for agencies that provide aging and disability services; and tech-driven maternity clinic Millie. Described by other investors as an ally and sounding board for female and diverse founders and investors, Moore is leaning into the view that diverse perspectives add value.
When not on the road looking for funds and start-ups, Moore can be found at the library, checking out one of the 50 books she has on hold.
