Coherent (COHR) late Wednesday disclosed plans to sell its epitaxial fabrication facility in Champaign, Illinois, as part of efforts to optimize its lasers and optoelectronic components manufacturing operations.
The building now on the sale, covers 65,000 square feet and features five G3 epitaxial systems housed in separate class-1000 ballroom-style cleanrooms, the chipmaker said.
Overall, the fabrication campus contains four buildings and was developed to house up to 10 crystalline-layer tools and previously produced indium phosphide and gallium arsenide wafers between two to six inches in size.
