Coherent said it plans to sell its epitaxial fabrication facility in Champaign, Illinois, as part of an ongoing plan to optimize its manufacturing footprint.

The facility previously produced 2-inch to 6-inch indium phosphide and gallium arsenide wafers, Coherent said. The site contains four buildings and a variety of fabrication and characterization equipment, and is located about six miles from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

In September, the company sold a U.K. manufacturing facility following a strategic review.

Coherent has facilities in the U.S., Canada, Brazil, and other countries.
