Toronto stocks began the week on a positive footing, rising slightly while Trump tariffs continue to weigh on investor sentiment.

Most sectors were in the green, with health services, consumer services and retail stocks leading the gainers. Consumer durables, tech and materials stocks were the main laggards.

At midday Monday, Canada's S&P/TSX Composite Index rose by 0.2% to 24815.46 and the blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 increased by 0.3% to 1489.95.

WELL Health Technologies fell 23% to 3.83 Canadian dollars ($2.67) after the company said that it will delay filing its year-end results because of complications with its U.S. subsidiary, Circle Medical Technologies.

Other market movers:

Shares in Canada Goose Holdings fell by 4.9% to C$11.20 after Barclays downgraded the Canadian winter apparel retailer to underweight from equal weight on the back of higher competitive pressures and tariff uncertainties.
