周一报道称，中国台湾地区主要芯片制造商联华电子（United Microelectronics，简称联电）和总部位于美国的格芯公司正在探讨合并的可能性，该报援引了其看到的一份评估计划。

　　报道称，合并后的实体将成立一家规模更大、总部位于美国的公司，其全球制造版图将横跨亚洲、美国和欧洲。

　　据报道，合并后的公司将把在美国的研发投资放在首位，并且有可能成为全球领先芯片制造商台湾积体电路制造股份有限公司（简称台积电）的有力替代者。

　　格芯公司和联电没有立即回应路透社的置评请求。

　　根据路孚特（LSEG）汇编的数据，格芯公司的市值为 204 亿美元，而联电目前的市值为 169 亿美元。

　　周一，联电股价收盘上涨 0.2%，至新台币 44.65 元，而在《日经新闻》的报道发布后，格芯公司股价略有上涨 。
