PRA Group named Martin Sjolund as its chief executive, succeeding Vikram Atal, effective June 17.
Sjolund most recently served as president of the PRA Group's European arm, managing 15 markets across the continent. In this role, he oversaw nearly $3 billion of portfolio investment and improved the profitability of the European business, the Norfolk, Va., company said Monday.
Previously, he served as the Europe division's chief operating officer, as well as its director of group strategy and corporate development.
In addition to the top role, Sjolund will assume the position of president and be appointed to the company's board.
He will succeed Atal, who plans to retire and serve as a senior adviser to the company through the end of the year. At that time, Atal also plans to step down from the company's board.
"Since March 2023, I have worked closely with Martin, and I am highly confident in his ability to further strengthen our global leadership position," Atal said.
