April 8 - (The Insurer) - Ascot has recruited longtime RenaissanceRe executive Marc Amen as its new North America CEO, with the executive being given oversight of Ascot’s U.S. and Bermuda operations and reporting directly to Ascot Group CEO Jonathan Zaffino.
A spokesperson for Ascot confirmed the hire and said that Amen is being given “ultimate responsibility for all operating facets of the Ascot U.S. and Ascot Bermuda insurance and reinsurance companies”.
Amen is also joining Ascot’s group executive committee and is expected to start in his new role with the company after serving out a notice period with RenRe.
“There is a tremendous opportunity for continued profitable growth and expansion for Ascot across the U.S. and Bermuda re/insurance markets,” Zaffino said in a statement.
“Marc brings to us a proven track record of success, leadership, and technical execution skills,” Zaffino continued.
“In partnership with Matt Kramer and Justin Keith, I have every confidence we will accelerate our ability to capitalize on the opportunities in front of us across our North America businesses,” he added.
Zaffino has known Amen “for many years”, adding that he is “excited to welcome” Amen to Ascot and its executive leadership team.
Amen resigned from his role with RenRe this week after spending the past dozen years with the Bermuda-headquartered firm, where he most recently served as the president of RenRe’s US business.
Amen has 24 years of underwriting and leadership experience, having held previous positions at Alterra Re, Harbor Point Re and Chubb Re.
“I am excited by this opportunity to lead Ascot’s growing, dynamic businesses in North America,” Amen said in a statement.
“The company has both world-class capabilities and the exceptional talent to execute on our strategic goals,” he continued.
“I look forward to working closely with Jon, our platform CEOs, and our teams across the U.S. and Bermuda to deliver on our mission to be a perfect partner for a less-than-perfect world,” Amen concluded.
