1025 ET - Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem keeps the benchmark interest rate unchanged, while saying officials are ready "to act decisively" in the event that data "points clearly in one direction." The BOC cut in March, although the minutes indicated some officials were ready to hold then as they wanted more clarity on President Trump's trade policy. Macklem reiterates, as he did in March, that senior officials will proceed "carefully" on future rate decisions, as they try to balance the risk of slower growth with the potential of higher prices fueled by inflation.
