Marimaca Copper (ASX:MC2) said that reinterpretation of historical drilling data in the Pampa Medina copper project in Chile, as well as results from reconnaissance drilling, shows consistent broad zones of oxide copper mineralization of variable grades, according to a Wednesday Australian bourse filing.
The reconnaissance drilling was designed to identify the limits of the mineralized horizon. The oxide copper mineralization is present in the same stratigraphic horizon over an area of around 5 kilometers by 4 kilometers.
Based on these results, the miner will continue its strategy of large-scale step-out holes from known mineralization and deep sulphide-target drilling to try to identify the limits of the system.
The company is considering alternatives for a significantly expanded program for the current year to include both reverse circulation and diamond drilling.
The program will seek to continue to step out to identify the limits of the system, test the deeper units for primary copper mineralization, and delineate areas for potential extensions of near-surface oxide mineralization, per the filing.
