Prabowo Wraps Up Qatar Visit with USD 2 Billion Investment in Danantara

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto stated that Qatar has committed to investing in Daya Anagata Nusantara or Danantara with 2 billion US dollars. He said that this is part of the increased cooperation between Indonesia and Qatar.

"He (the Emir of Qatar) will invest with Danantara. It's a joint fund, he has committed two billion US dollars," said Prabowo during his state visit to Doha, Qatar, as monitored online from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube on Sunday, April 13, 2025.

The head of state appreciates Qatar's commitment to investing in Danantara. "I think this is a good follow-up and he is very enthusiastic," he said.

Prabowo's visit to Qatar includes a one-on-one meeting with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at the Amiri Diwan Palace. He is also reported to attend the CEO Forum initiated by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).

Prabowo is accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Maruarar Sirait, Minister of Investment and Industrial Estate/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media of the Presidential Secretariat Yusuf Permana stated that the two leaders discussed strategic cooperation between Indonesia and Qatar in several fields. He mentioned that the two leaders will also witness the signing of several important memorandums of understanding.

"The two leaders will witness several very strategic MoUs to enhance the relationship between Indonesia and Qatar," he said in a press release from the Presidential Secretariat on Sunday, April 13, 2025.

Prabowo will conclude his visit to Qatar by attending an official luncheon with the Emir of Qatar. After that, Prabowo and the Indonesian delegation will continue their diplomatic visit to Amman, Jordan.

Prabowo also visited several countries in the Middle East from April 9 to 15, 2025, including the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, and Jordan.

The head of state aims to strengthen Indonesia's bilateral relations with strategic partner countries and seek support for his plan to evacuate thousands of Palestinian residents from Gaza to Indonesia.
