巴拿马市现已加入全球其他允许使用加密货币进行市政支付的城市行列。米兹拉希表示，巴拿马首都将通过与一家合作银行协作，无需新立法即可实施该政策，该银行将在支付时将加密货币转换为美元。与萨尔瓦多一样，美元在巴拿马是法定货币。
米兹拉希称，“前几届政府试图在参议院推动一项法案以实现这一目标，但我们找到了一种无需新立法的简单方法。法律上公共机构必须以美元接收资金，因此我们与一家银行合作，由其负责接收加密货币并即时转换为美元的交易。这使得加密货币在整个经济和整个政府中自由流通。”
