April 22 - (The Insurer) - Helix Underwriting has appointed Kevin Copeland as its first chief financial officer, the multiline independent MGA said on Tuesday.

Copeland will join Helix's executive management team.

He most recently served as CFO of Our Kettle Inc, a technology-enabled property insurer, where he will remain as senior adviser and director of its Bermuda entities.

Prior to Our Kettle, Copeland was SVP, finance and chief investment officer at James River Group Holdings. He also served as CFO and chief operating officer at various Bermudian (re)insurance entities owned by James River, Tokio Marine and Argo Group.

Helix was launched in Bermuda in 2020 by underwriting executives Claude Lefebvre, Nik Lucking and Neville Weston. Its existing portfolio includes a property and facultative book run by Lucking in Bermuda and an excess casualty program led by Tim Hadler, both managing partners at the company.
