国际财闻汇核实后发现，此截图系外媒报道机器翻译错误所致，实际任命对象为投行资深人士James Hu，与知名媒体人胡锡进无关。
今日头条认证为国际问题专家的储殷发帖称，传言源于彭博社报道的机器翻译错误：“James Hu被摩根士丹利任命为副董事长，但中文翻译系统可能因词库问题将‘James Hu’错误关联为‘胡锡进’。”
他调侃称，“机器翻译就是这么不靠谱，估计把老胡吓够呛。”
