美国财政部长斯科特·贝森特呼吁国际货币基金组织和世界银行调整方向，同时表示这两家机构发挥着“关键作用”，特朗普政府愿意与他们合作。
贝森特周三在国际金融协会(IIF)举办的一个活动上谈到这两家机构时表示，“在现状下，他们做得不够”。他特别指出IMF遭遇了“职能漂移”。
这位美国财长表示，“国际金融机构必须特别关注”确保经济和金融的可持续性。“我不是在谈论气候变化或碳足迹。”
他发表的此番主旨演讲正值来自世界各地的财长和央行行长齐聚华盛顿，参加国际货币基金组织(IMF)和世界银行的春季会议之际。
美国总统唐纳德·特朗普对一些国际组织持怀疑态度，并在今年早些时候宣布美国退出世界卫生组织，但贝森特明确表示，他认为总部设在华盛顿的这两家国际金融机构仍然不可或缺。
“国际货币基金组织和世界银行在国际体系中发挥着关键作用。特朗普政府渴望与他们合作 —— 只要他们能够忠于自己的使命，”贝森特说。
