HSBC (HKG:0005) bought back 700,000 shares in Hong Kong on Tuesday at an average price of HK$81.55 apiece, according to a Wednesday filing with the Hong Kong bourse.
Since the start of the current buyback program, HSBC has repurchased 178,060,599 shares for $1.98 billion.
Upon cancellation of the repurchased shares in the UK, the bank will have 17,673,109,992 ordinary shares with voting rights.
