在唐纳德·特朗普在全球掀起贸易战的大背景下，美国副总统万斯周一开启印度访问之行，这次跨国访问对万斯本人来说也具有政治和个人意义。

　　特朗普此前将高对等关税措施暂停执行90天，美国威胁如果在这个时限结束前未能达成协议，那么将会对印度对美出口商品关税提高至26%。白宫表示，印度总理纳伦德拉·莫迪将接待万斯并举行双边会晤。

　　特朗普政府官员已点名印度是美国在90天暂停期内优先谈判的几个国家之一。在万斯到访之际，新德里对印度能够快速达成协议并从更高关税中豁免抱有较高期望。

　　一位新德里官员此前表示，本周将进行针对特定行业的贸易讨论，目标是在5月底之前完成这些谈判。印度财政部长Nirmala Sitharaman还将出席在华盛顿举行的国际货币基金组织（IMF）会议，预计将与美国高级官员讨论贸易问题。
