By Rebecca Delaney

April 24 - (The Insurer) - Axa XL has further expanded its energy transition team with the appointment of Theodore Rodrigues da Costa as underwriting manager, energy transition for the UK and Lloyd's segment.

In his new role, Rodrigues da Costa will be responsible for managing the energy transition portfolio for Axa XL's UK and Lloyd’s business unit, as well as maintaining a frontline underwriting presence.

He joins Axa XL from a stint as senior underwriter at Munich Re Specialty. Prior to that, he spent nine years at Liberty Specialty Markets, latterly as senior underwriter for power and renewable energy.

Rodrigues da Costa's appointment to the team follows the hire of Debbie Durkhan in January as head of distribution, energy transition.

Durkhan previously served as chief client officer at Marsh Commercial, having joined the broking giant as global growth leader for wholesale in 2019 following its acquisition of JLT Group, where she was senior partner and growth leader within the specialty segment.

In the same month, Katherine Gerber was appointed head of energy transition in the Americas. Prior to Axa XL, she served as the global strategy and performance lead of energy risk transition, commercial insurance at Liberty Mutual.

Axa XL's global transition offering is led by Vicky Roberts-Mills as global head of energy transition.

Roberts-Mills joined Axa XL in May 2023 from Aon, where she served as offshore renewables leader for the London renewables business line.
